The City of Cozad is led by an elected mayor and four city council members. Our City Clerk handles the day-to-day operations. The city council meets bimonthly on Mondays at the Council Chambers located at 215 West 8th Street.
City officials and staff have worked hard on the development of a community that promotes safety and quality of life.
Cozad is served by a 7 member Police Department with Centralized Dispatch out of the Dawson County Sheriff’s office in Lexington, Ne.
Cozad also has a Volunteer Fire Department which is made up of a 32-person squad of all-volunteer firemen. Cozad has 16 Certified Emergency Medical Technicians that serve the community.
The Cozad airport boast a 5,000 foot lighted runway and provides two instrument approach. The airport also has a fuel station and overnight hanger space is available.
Cozad has seven public parks, four of which contain ballfields. Other facilities include a 50-meter outdoor swimming pool with 2 waterslides, splash pad, horseshoe pits, frisbee golf, picnic area, cooking facilities, playground equipment, lighted tennis courts, rest rooms, outdoor sand volleyball courts, walking track, and overnight camping with electrical hookups, dump stations, and water. The Recreation and Parks Department offers areas for youth baseball, softball, soccer, and co-ed sand volleyball programs.
